A clear, plain-language commitment to parents and schools regarding how EdSmartly utilizes Artificial Intelligence.

EdSmartly serves as an intelligent teaching copilot, never a substitute for human judgment. Every lesson plan, assessment, report, and Socratic dialogue generated is governed by a strict set of responsible-use principles. Distilled from the acceptable-use policies of our AI providers (like Anthropic), these safeguards apply without exception to every generation on the platform. While your school can implement additional, stricter content rules, these foundational safeguards can never be weakened.

The Four Core Principles

1. The Educator is Always in Control

Everything EdSmartly produces is considered a first draft, requiring review and approval by a qualified educator before reaching any student, parent, or inspector. The AI never makes final decisions about a child — no grades, no placements, and no automated judgments. The teacher retains full responsibility and ultimate authority. This principle applies across all seven instruments: lesson plans, assessments, reports, Socratic ladders, student practice dialogues, weekly modules and Plan & Review.

2. Culturally Aligned and Safe Content

The platform proactively blocks unsafe, explicit, deceptive, or discriminatory prompts. All generated content is strictly calibrated to be appropriate for a Gulf K-12 setting (both national and international schools), and the system is engineered to decline requests that fall outside a clear educational scope. Schools can also set their own content guidance — for example, specifying preferred terminology, cultural references, or units — which is applied uniformly to every generation from every teacher in the school.

3. Privacy by Design

EdSmartly deliberately holds no student rosters. Reports are generated solely from the professional notes a teacher provides, and we actively instruct educators to exclude unnecessary personally identifiable information. Most importantly, your child's data and schoolwork are never used to train our AI models — under any subscription tier, ever. 4. Unwavering Accountability and Transparency

Your school defines the operational boundaries and retains full oversight of its workspace. We support institutional transparency, encouraging staff to disclose AI assistance where required by school policy. Every school has access to a governance posture sheet — a printable document showing exactly which controls are in force, read from the school's live configuration — that can be shared with leadership, inspectors or a ministry file. We believe schools should be able to tangibly demonstrate exactly how AI is used, rather than relying on blind trust.

How these principles are enforced

These four principles are not aspirational — they are built into the platform's architecture. The school sets twelve governance controls. Six — generation limits, permitted question types, output languages, content guidance, assessment length and AI providers — are enforced by the server on every generation.
